Ventura International Film Festival Where Filmmaking Connects With Conservation Awareness

The Ventura Film Festival was established in 2004 and has displayed hundreds of movies, generally exceeding 200 films per summer season, and has attracted attention from the global cinema community. Distinguished events have encompassed hosting award winning filmmaker Dylan O'Neil, the inaugural world champion surfers Peter "PT" Townend and surf legend Ian Cairns, four-time world champion Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/MMA competitor Fabio Leopoldo, and the golden anniversary celebration of West Side Story, which involved hosting the complete Oscar-winning ensemble of West Side Story, encompassing Academy Award winner/Golden Globe recipient George Chakiris together with Golden Globe winner/Academy Award nominee Russ Tamblyn. The Ventura Film Festival creator and executive director was honored to take part, along with many of Hollywood's top stars, in the 50-year anniversary event of West Side Story and Hollywood's prestigious footprint/handprint ceremony honoring Oscar winners Rita Moreno, George Chakiris, and Golden Globe recipient Russ Tamblyn at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood. This ceremony also acted as the official BluRay introduction by Fox and MGM of the iconic West Side Story, which is broadly regarded by critics and fans as the finest musical of all time. This esteemed acknowledgment and participation showcases the festival's substantial impact and respected position within the film industry.
